Children under five years old who are experiencing a period of rapid growth would require essential nutrition to the body. Therefore, Mommy is obliged to meet the dietary needs of children which are nutritious and beneficial. One-year-old children should not be given any kinds of food since their digestive systems are still weak and are different from adults.

Actually, what kind of food permitted to be given to the children who just turned one year old? Here are some healthy menu choices consisting of nutritious foods that Mommy can choose for the children.

Fruits and Vegetables

Various types of fruits and vegetables are good for children. Fruits contain many vitamins, fiber, and minerals to meet the nutritional needs of infants. Fruits can be given to your baby directly or half-cooked. 

Half-cooked fruits will make the baby’s digestive system absorb the food more easily. If Mommy wants fresh fruits, avocados and bananas can be the best choices.

For vegetables, Mommy can choose a variety of vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, cabbage, pumpkin, and various kinds of other vegetables. These vegetables can be boiled and blended if the baby’s teeth are not complete yet.

Tomatoes are also recommended to be given to the baby since tomatoes contain a compound called lycopene. Lycopene is an antioxidant cancer-fighting substance.

If Mommy has been using spices to cook the baby’s food, Mommy can add cinnamon. It is a nourishing spice needed by toddlers to balance sugar levels in the body.

Complete Nutrition

Cereal is one of the foods that is good for one-year-old children. By eating cereal, the baby will get various great benefits for the baby's nutritional needs such as carbohydrates and fiber.

In addition, this food is also easy to digest. Nut is also one type of food that is good for the baby. Mommy can grind the nuts which are already cooked. Nuts are a good source of protein intake for the baby. To give variant flavors, Mommy can mix it with fruit and whole grain cereals.

Another option to provide protein intake in infants is to give tofu. Tofu is processed soy products. This food is highly nutritious and has a soft texture so that the baby can digest it easily.

One of the best sources of protein is fish, especially salmon. This fish contains omega 3 fatty acids which are recommended for infants. The content of protein and unsaturated fats in salmon help prevent depression, maintain brain development, and decrease the risk of inflammation.

In addition to salmon, Mommy can also provide other types of fish or other protein sources such as eggs.
