Food Nutrition to Reduce Nausea and Vomiting during Pregnancy

During the early stage of pregnancy, nausea and vomiting is often complained by pregnant women. Hormones in the body which increase dramatically trigger the nausea and vomiting which are frequently experienced by Mommy during pregnancy. If this condition continues, it will create discomfort for Mommy to do daily activities while being pregnant. 

The foods and nutrients that may reduce nausea and vomiting during pregnancy are listed as follows:

  1. Foods containing protein and carbohydrates. Nausea can be overcomed by consuming foods that contain protein and carbohydrates such as bread, potatoes, biscuits, vegetables, and fruit. Food should not be fried because the cooking oil can cause nausea and vomiting. Food can be steamed or boiled before consumption to reduce nausea.

  3. Folic acid is good for reducing nausea as well as for the growth of the fetus. According to the research in Indonesia, folic acid content can be found in chicken liver, seaweed, and soybeans. Folic acid is recommended to be consumed at 300 milligrams per day. In addition to preventing nausea and vomiting for pregnant women, folic acid is also good for the development of the brain and body of the fetus in the womb.
