Nutritional Intake of Pregnant Women when Entering the Third Trimester

Nutrient intake for pregnant women is very important for all trimesters. However, Mommy should pay more attention to nutrition, especially in fetal development during the third trimester. Nutritional intake in this trimester is very influential on the formation of the organs of the baby. So, what exactly does Mommy needs to support the pregnancy in this trimester? 

First, Mommy should increase the calorie intake. Pregnant women need more calories to 80,000 kilo calories per day. The calorie needs in the third trimester have increased to 200 kilo calories per day because Mommy has to consume at least as much as 285,000 kcal calories to 300.000 kilo calories. As already explained above, sufficient calorie needs will greatly help the formation of organs in the fetus and placenta include adding more blood and amniotic fluid. Calories are not only useful for the baby, but also for Mommy. By consuming enough calories then mommy has energy reserves until childbirth.

Calories can be obtained by eating nuts, milk, and eggs. Secondly, mommy should also take vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 is helpful in chemical processes in the body. In addition, these vitamins also increases metabolism, especially of carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. In the third trimester of fetal development, Mommy needs approximately 2.2 milligrams of vitamin B6 per day. Third, Mommy should pay attention to the intake of iodine in the body. Iodine affects the formation of the fetus so the baby is born perfect and healthy. Fourth, do not forget the role of water during the pregnancy period. 

In fact, water can also facilitate the body's metabolism. To cover the need for water intake in the body and prevent dehydration during pregnancy, then Mommy is advised to consume water at least 10 glasses every day. Fifth, mommy is highly recommended to consume foods that contain protein. Protein is essential to form cells and organs of the fetus. At the very least, Mommy should consume about 12 grams per day for a period of 7 months of pregnancy. This dose is equal to eating two eggs per day.

Sixth, as pregnant women, Mommy also needs blood. Iron is very important to increase the blood levels in the body. By eating foods that contain iron, Mommy can avoid anemia and it will help the delivery process.

To support the 7-month of pregnancy period, Mommy is also advisable not to consume too much salt. Too high salt level will block blood circulation and cause seizures. In this period, the belly has started to grow, so it's good for Mommy to eat foods with little portions frequently to avoid being congested.  Good tips on nutrition for the third trimester of fetal development can help Mommy maintain her health and also the fetus to be born healthy and perfect.
